Peggy Charlene McIntire was born in Moline on July 30, 1951. She grew up in the 7th street Old Towne neighborhood with her close family and many friends. She learned to dance from Marylou Denhardt and took that experience with her throughout her vibrant life. She was a 1969 graduate of Moline High School, where she was a cheerleader and dancer. She married Bob Hanske on September 23rd, 1972, in Moline, and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Peggy had many joys in her life, but none more joyous than her daughter, Tasia, and son, Nick, along with her three grandchildren, Sam, Amelia, and Madilyn. She was also very active in area theater, where she directed and choreographed the musical at United Township for over twenty years, directed mini theater in Moline grade schools, taught theater for a few years at College for Kids, choreographed the musical and choral concerts at Rock Island High School for many years, and was active as an actress, dancer, director, and choreographer at the Genesius Guild. She also choreographed and acted at Richmond Hill, Music Guild, Playcrafters, ETC, New Ground Theater, and other places. She brought her own special wonder to everything she did and was loved by many.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Tasia Hanske and her fiancé, Brian Bunker, of Davenport; a son, Nick Hanske of Moline; grandchildren, Sam and Amelia Rasmussen, and Madilyn Bunker; her mother, Lois (Larry) Spiker of Lomax, Illinois; sisters, Vickie (Randy) McWhorter of Rock Island, Christine (Rich) Hanson of Morton, Illinois; a brother, Steve (Tyyne) McIntire of Moline, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved. And thank the Lord for her wonderful friends Susie, Ricki, Mary, and Pat and Patti Flaherty, who were with her to the end. She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin, and a brother, Larry McIntire.

The family thanks Dr. Garneau and his wonderful staff for “giving her extra time to love us all.” She will be missed and her life will be celebrated by all the family, friends, and students whose lives she touched.

A strong believer in Jesus Christ, he often witnessed to as many as he could about the virtues of being a Christian, passing forward the torch of faith, and living in the righteousness of Christ throughout a person’s life.

Philip was born Aug. 2, 1950, in Moline, the son of Richard and Dorothy Greko. He was married to Sara Barnuevo in June 2000 for 13 years until his illness, and has a stepdaughter, Kamilla.

He graduated with highest honors from Moline High School in 1969, from Augustana College in 1973, and with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude at Palmer College of Chiropractic. While working as an assistant professor, he took a sabbatical leave to earn a master’s degree in biology and research from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich.

In addition to his private practice for 36 years in chiropractic, he was employed at Palmer College of Chiropractic, having been last promoted as an associate professor of radiology. Palmer College has been very good to him, as he received many awards including the highest scholarships award, the David D. Palmer Scholarship, of which only two are given out per year. Other awards included the Presidential Research award with a publication in Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics, and other peer-reviewed publications. He held professional licences in five states, including Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Arkansas and North Carolina.

He was also a consultant to Mississippi Valley Airlines in designing aircraft seats for aviation pilots in 1984. His community and church service included being a past scout director, church youth leader, deacon, Sabbath school superintendent, president of the board of the Rock Island County Humane Society, and a member of the Moline Optimist Club.

He enjoyed collecting antiques, particularly from the Civil War, art history, and was an avid reader of history. He also enjoyed traveling with his family members, having taken many trips in the United States and Western Europe, and especially by train to New Mexico on the Southwest Chief from Galesburg, Ill.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy, his brother, Jeff, East Moline, and cousins living in the Quad-Cities and California. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard.

He will be greatly missed as he has touched the lives of so many of his patients and friends. It has been a blessing to our family that so many of you have taken the time to call or stop by and share fond memories with him.
